Obituary for John S. Dawson

John S. Dawson, aged 79 years and a lifelong resident of Fayette county died at his home at Hopwood, Saturday afternoon July 4, 1908. Bright's disease was the cause of his demise. He is survived by a wife, four sons, two daughters and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services Monday afternoon at the Hopwood M.E. church of which the deceased was a member. He was also a member of the Fort Necessity lodge and the latter attended the services in a body.

Mr. Dawson was the son of John and Elizabeth Dawson and was born at the old homestead where the Continental No. 3 now stands. He had lived in Hopwood for half a century.

The children of the deceased are: Hayes Dawson, Canonsburg; Frank of Prospect Mines, Charles and Walter at home, Mrs. Julia Porter and another married daughter.

The deceased was 79 years old and the average age of his brothers and sisters is about 78 years. The brothers are William H. Dawson, south of Uniontown; Harrison Dawson, Charleroi; and Louis M. Dawson, Uniontown. The sisters are Mrs. Sarah Jane Murphy, Wellington, Kansas and Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes of Connellsville.
