En continuité aux travaux de la 3ème voie Coppet-Genève, l'actuelle halte de Creux-de-Genthod (photo ci-dessous), va être totalement refaite....
As part of the works to install a third track on the line from Coppet to Genève, the station halt Creux-de-Genthod is to be be completely reconstructed.
[There are normally 92+ passenger trains/direction on a weekend day on this track.]
[The section around Creux-de-Genthod itself is being quadruplicated. Overall there will be three continuous tracks through the project area, two for intercity trains and one for regional services, with some sections of quadruple track where regional trains from opposite directions are scheduled to cross.]
Ainsi, l'entrée de Creux-de Genthod, ici sur la photo, en provenance de Genève a été modifiée ce week-end. Suppression de tous les trains régionaux Genève-Nyon-Genève afin de permettre la mise en place d'une 3ème voie...
The approaches to Creux-de Genthod (shown here from the Genève end) were modified this weekend. All regional trains Genève-Nyon-Genève [normally 20 regional trains direction/day on weekends] were replaced by bus services to permit installation of a third track. [One track remaining in service through the site carried the 140+ scheduled inter-regio and inter-city trains scheduled on a normal weekend.]
La voie normale sens "Genève-Lausanne" a été coupée afin de prévoir, pour bientôt, la pose d'une aiguille. La nouvelle voie sens Ge-Ls est celle tout à gauche où se trouve le convoi des lignes de contact.Durant tout le week-end, seule la voie "lac" est restée en service pour la circulation des trains.
The track usually used for services heading from Genève towards Lausanne has been cut to allow installation of a turnout. The new track towards Lausanne is on the left, with the catenary construction train.
During the entire weekend only the track on the lake side [to the right of this photo] remained in service
Cette nouvelle "gare" de service, nécéssite d'importants travaux d'infrastructures, comme ici où il a fallu poser des supports caténaires passant les 4 voies. Déclenchement total de la ligne de contact durant quelques nuits..
The location of a new temporary station platform to be constructed, such as is often needed in major infrastructure projects. The catenary supports need to span all four tracks here. Installing them required complete de-energising of overhead for several nights.
L'ancien fil de contact est mis à terre et sera renouvelé. On voit nettement la future configuration de la gare. La 4ème voie, pas encore posée, viendra tout à gauche (actuellement laissé vide pour permettre aux camions du chantier venir sur place)...
The old overhead contact wire, here lying on the ground, is to be renewed. Here one can clearly see the future layout of the station. The fourth track, not yet installed, will pass to the far left; which for now is left clear to allow construction vehicles to move about the site.
Pendant ce temps, les services de lignes de contact inspectent et finissent de préparer la caténaire pour les futures circulations de ce lundi matin à 05h32 ! (oui, c'est précis mais on est en Suisse !

Meanwhile, the overhead service crews are inspecting the catenary and finishing preparations for services which will resume on Monday morning at 05:32! ([Pun] That's Swiss punctuality!)
Et il faut ajouter ceci : voir le matériel des LC depuis en bas est une chose... chaque élément pèse des kilos et on travaille souvent les bras en l'air.. donc ce n'est pas si facile que celà...Respect !
Seeing the contact wire put back up is quite something: each component weighs several kilos or more and the workers often work with their arms raised above their heads... it's not an easy job...
Mais le matériel est aussi bien moderne et on remercie les wagons à nacelles !
But luckily modern work trains and equipment are available; especially wagons with elevated platforms.

Du côté "Lausanne", même topo. On a déplacé les signaux pour l'exploitation sur la nouvelle voie et on remarque les impressionnants portiques à signaux...Tiens.. passage du 327 Ge Ap - Bri avec la "Flugzug"..
Same stop, from the Lausanne end. The signals have been adjusted for use on the new track; the signal gantry is impressive.
Interregio train 327 from Brig-Genève Aéroport to Brig passes with Re460 locomotive in promotional "Flugzug" ("Your train to the plane") livery.
Et en finalité.. prêt pour le premier régio de ca matin, le nouveau quai "provisoire" a été monté durant la soirée où j'ai fait mon tour de service. En rentrant chez moi, j'ai vite été voir le boulot... bien fait semble-t'il !
Finally completed and ready for the first regional train of the morning, this temporary platform was erected during the night I was at work. On the way home I took a quick look around the project .. a nice job!
Fini les bonnes vieilles isolations... maintenant, on repère grâce à des capteurs de présence... Ici, l'installation d'un signaux (pour signal principal) et les deux aimants de proximité (avec le boitier jaune pour le cablâge).
No more old wood insulated joints; nowadays train detection is done via axle counters. The installation shown here is for a main signal, with two axle counters (the yellow box is for cabling.) [The silver boxes to the left are "crocodiles", part of the national and automatic train stop system.]
Au passage de la zone en travaux à Craux-de-Genthod/GE
Intercity train #724 St Gallen-Genève passes through the Craux-de-Genthod work zone.
Le petit "kit" d'annonce de passage d'un train : le gyrophare orange couplé à un boîtier qui émet un bourdonnement modulé à l'approche d'un convoi. Idéal pour les voisins la nuit !;o)

The small setup which warns of oncoming trains, an orange revolving light attached to a loud buzzer. [A series of these are arranged along the line all through work areas.]
