Sold out Aerangis kotschyana selfing #4182 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is a stout plant that can carry up to 20 long-lasing flowers on the pendant infloresence. The flowers are white with a tint of salmon color. The nectary (spur) is the most impressive part of the flower as it can be up to 9" long and has a loose cork screw twist. It is widespread in Africa and grows as an epiphyte at elevations about 3000 ft but can be found as high as 4900 ft. Culture: I have grown this well in intermediate conditions (56 to 80F) mounted on a piece of cork bark. I use a litte moisture retentive material at the base of the plants, but the majority of the roots hang free. It grows in moderate light and is watered daily during the growing season. It dries within a few hours and is watered again the next day. The watering is a bit less often in the winter, but not a decided dry rest. It gets a moderate fertililzer at most waterings. Parent: Aerangis kotschyana |
