Sold out Ancistrochilus rothschildianus outcross #3906 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). These seedlings have been treated to alter the chromosome count. This does not guarantee that they will be 4N. For more information go to Ploidy. The Species: This is a small epiphyte that grows in equatorial west Africa. Uncommon in nature, it is found at moderate elevations. Culture: Grow this species with nights in the low 60’s F and days in the upper 70’s F year round. Some suggest that the winter night temperature could be in the mid 50’s after leaves drop. It grows in somewhat shady conditions. In the habitat, rainfall is heavy from spring through fall in the growing season and plants should remain moist and not dry out. For about 3 months in the winter, water and fertilizer should be reduced and the plants should be almost dry before watering again. Many growers recommend a bark mix in a shallow container. Others may use a potting mix or moss. Representative images: Ancistrochilus rothschildianus
