Angraecum pseudofilicornu #5186 selfing (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This grows as an endemic epiphyte in Madagascar where is is found in humid forests with mosses and lichens at an elevation near 3300 ft. The 2" wide flowers are fragrant and carried with 1 or 2 per inflorescence. The plant has terete leaves around 3" long on a stem that branches and becomes pendant with weight. This species is similar to Angraecum scottianum which is endemic to the Comoro Islands. Culture: Because of the pendant habit of the plant, growing it mounted displays the plant well. It can also be gown potted. It is warm to warm-intermediate grower that does well with somewhat shady conditions. Parent: I do not have images of the parents so show here representative images of Angraecum pseudofilicornu to show the flowers and habit. |
