Sold out Bonatea antennifera wild #4193.15 (approximately 15 seedlings per flask). The Species: It can have 10 to 30 of the night fragrant, green and white flowers per spike. The blooms are in the spring and it maintains its leaves during the blooming season. It grows in grassland, savanna and dry woodland from near sea level to 5600 ft. A synonym for this is Bonatea speciosa var. antennifera. Culture: I have limited experience growing this species. I was told to use "regular garden soil' but that could mean many things.I have had some success using a mix of a terrestrial mix (with fine bark, pumice and a lot of coir in it) with some small gravel mixed in. I did get some of them to winter over and come up again. I think the mix stayed a bit too wet in the winter. I have since gotten the advice to use "a loamy but still free draining soil." They do need a cool/cold, dry winter. Give them ample water when growing. Bonatea antennifera images courtesy of Lourens Grobler. |
