Sold out Bulbophyllum veldkampii selfing #1810 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is endemic to Sulawesi where it grows at elevations between 2000 and 2300 ft. It is a warm grower with pseudobulbs very close together so it stays easily in a pot. The flowers are a bit over 2" tall and a single spike can have up to 21 flowers in succession over a long period of time. My plant has had up to 3 spikes from a single pseudobulb and it has been in bloom for several years. The flowers have no noticeable fragrance. Culture: I have tried growing this in intermediate conditions but it did not start flowering well until I had more heat. For some time I grew it on a heating mat in the intermediate house and it did well. Now it is in a warm greenhouse and is doing very well. I grow it potted in a fine bark mix and keep it moist with regular dilute fertilizer in moderate light. I only have the one plant so have not tried it brighter light. Parent: Bulbophyllum veldkampii
