Bulbophyllum maxillare outcross #4555 ('9264' x '9260') (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Widespread in the islands of Southeast Asia at elevations from 150 to 1650 ft and occassionally up to 4000ft. The flowers are 3" tall on a plant that is 5 to 7" tall. It seems to bloom in flushes from spring through fall. This has been known as Bulbophyllum blumei and is now properly called Bulbophyllum maxillare. Culture: It is a warm grower that does well in bright, scattered shade. Mine are watered year round with dilute fertilizer. They get bright morning light with more shade as the day progresses. I grow it mounted but most of the plant is hanging free and very happy. I have also seen it grown beautifully potted in a shallow container. Pollen parent: Bulbophyllum maxillare '9260'
