Sold out Bulbophyllum comosum wild #4043 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). This outrageously beautiful, small stature plant has recently come in to the commericial trade. The capsule for this flask came on an imported plant. The Species: The flowers are not only incredibly intricate they are also wonderfully fragrant. I’ve heard it described as cinnamon, but I don't get that. At times is seems floral and other times it seems fresh with just a hint of moth balls. The pseudobulbs are about 1” tall with little or not space between them making for a compact plant. It is a deciduous species from the western Himalayas at elevations from 6000 to 6600 ft. This plant was described in 1890, but I had never seen it in the trade until 3 years ago. Culture: I was told to grow this intermediate with a dry winter rest. But experience has taught me that the do not want a hard, dry rest in the winter. Mine are growing with 56F minimum nights and 80F days. I give them moderately bright light, daily water and ferilizer while they have leaves and a bit drier in the winter. Bulbophyllum comosum. These images are from a plant from the same source as the capsule parent.
