Cattleya kerrii #4681 outcross ('5275' x 'J&J') (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This Brazilian species inhabits a narrow coastal strip where it grows at approximately 350 ft elevation in shade near swampy ponds or edges of watecourses. They are small stature plants at 12 to 14" in height. The 3 to 4" blooms are held just above the foliage with 1 to 2 flowers per inflorescence. Culture: I have grown this both potted (in medium bark) and mounted where the roots can dry quickly. The humidity needs to be high and the light level is shady. Recommendations in the literature are to reduce water in the winter but to water or mist to keep pseudobulbs from shriveling. That said, I water mine the same as the general collection, which is less in winter, but not a pronouced dry rest. Cattleya kerrii: These are images of two of my plants, but don't know if both were the ones I used for this cross.
