Cattleya loddigesii alba 'Rebel Belle'x self #4820 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This moderately sized, bifoliate Cattleya grows in Brazil at elevations of 2000 to 3000 ft. The plant height is between 7 and 16" tall. The flowers are 3 to 4" wide with 3 to 6 flowers per inflorescence. Culture: The roots need to dry quickly after watering. So this is frequently grown in pots or baskets with a fast draining, open medium. Repot before the medium breaks down and allow only for 1 or 2 years growth. If mounted, humidity needs to be high and may require daily watering in summer. This grows well in intermediate conditions and can drop down to the low 50's F in the winter. Spring through early fall there is ample rainfall in the habitat. The winter is still humid with some rainfall. Parent: Cattleya loddigesii alba 'Rebel Belle' as a first bloom seedling: |
