Cattleya trianae coerulea outcross #5826 (['Pedro Azul' x 'Camila'] x ‘Montclaire’)(approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This Colombian plant grows at elevations from 2600 to 4900 ft and is the national flower of Colombia. It was named after a Colombian botanist, José M. Triana in 1851. It is a variable species with many color forms and doesn’t have any demanding cultural requirements compared to some of the Cattleya species. The flowers can be up to 8”. It is usually referred to as a winter bloomer, but will start blooming in November. It has a wonderful sweet fragrance. Culture: It is an warm to intermediate grower that likes lots of water and fertilizer during the growing season and a slightly drier period during the winter. I grow it in bright light with 56F minimum nights. Let the potting mix dry a bit between waterings. Parents: I do not have images of lthe parents, so show here a representative flower. |
