Caladenia picta wild #4291 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Known as the Painted Fingers Orchid, this is is limited to east coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is a terrestrial orchid that blooms in the fall with a 1" flower on a 6" single flowered inflorescence. I was given the seed and have not yet bloomed this in the greenhouse. You can see some images of this species here. Culture: These grow in bright light (from full sun to 35% shade). Keep the soil evenly moist while actively growing, from mid-autumn until mid- to late spring. Allow plants to dry out as they die down (Caladenia tubers rot easily). One recommendation for potting is a sandy loam mixed with leaf mold and coarse sand. They like a somewhat acid soil. Another possibility is a mix of kanuma and perlite with the note to be easy on the watering in the beginning of the growing season.
