Sold out Clowesia rosea outcross #4697 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Found on the western slopes in southern Mexico at elevations from 1650 to 4300 ft. It is a small to medium sized plant that is 7 to 18" tall while the pseudobulbs are usually 1.6 to 2.4" tall but can be up to 4" tall. It is deciduous in winter and needs a dry rest to thrive. A relative of Catasetum, it differs in that Clowesia rosea has bisexual flowers rather than male and female blooms. The pendant inflorescence is usually produced after the leaves have fallen. Culture: Grow these in bright light and give a seasonal rest. In nature the rainfall is low from November through March. The winters are brighter and cooler than summers. Winter temperatures average mid 50's to mid 80's and summer temperatures average mid 60's to mid 90's. They are considered heavy feeders during the growing season.
