Sold out Comparettia falcata outcross #4331 ('#2' x '#1') (approximately 125 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is a widespread, but uncommon species in Mexico, Central America northern South America and the West Indies. The showy flowers are deep rose-pink to rose-red and are a bit over 1/2" wide. The inflorescence can have from 2 to 30 flowers. It comes from a variety of elevations from 2300 to 7500 ft. I wasn't careful about noting which of the parents I used in this cross. So I show images of one of my plants but I don't know if it was the capsule or pollen parent. Culture: I have grown this well in intermediate conditions. It would probably do well in cool-intermediate conditions as well. Give them moderate shade and good air movement. There is no distinct dry rest in the habitat, though rain is not as heavy in the winters. The plants can be upright or slightly pendant and the inflorescence is arching to pendant. I have always grown them mounted. The roots need to dry quickly. They can also be grown in small hanging pots or baskets. Be sure to repot before the medium breaks down. Parents: I wasn't careful about noting which of the parents I used in this cross. So I show images of one of my plants but I don't know if it was the capsule or pollen parent.
