Cyrtorchis arcuata wild #3709 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: A widespread species throughout most of tropical Africa from near sea level to 9850 ft. It is usually found in woodlands and occassionally in riverine forest at the more moderate elevatons from 1950 to 5250 ft. It is usually an epiphyte though may grow on rocks. The stem can reach 12" and the leaves are up to 8" long. There are 5 to 14 stary flowers along the short inflorescence that are very fragrant at night. Culture: This species is found at a range of elevations so may be adaptable. I have been growing mine in warm conditions, but it should do well in intermediate or cool temperatures. In some of its range the winter night temperatures can be as low as the high 30's to high 40's. I give mine moderate shade to moderately bright light. I have not given mine a dry rest in the winter, but the rainfall patterns suggest that watering should be lessened in the winter. Cyrtorchis arcuata: I do not have images of the parents but show some images that give a sense of the species.
