Sold out Dendrobium amboinense outcross #4726 ('4926' x 'Smaller') (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Notable for the large, fragrant flowers that last a single day and will bloom several times during the year. When in bloom they have 2 to 4 flowers per inflorescence and are spectacular. The individual segments on my bloomings are about 2.5" long and the natural spread is over 4" wide and can be larger. Some descriptions give the pseudobulb length as 8". For me they are up to 15". It is found on Ambon Island in the Maluccas at low elevations. Culture: This is best grown in intermediate to hot conditions. In nature the nights are in the mid-70's year round and in winter the daytime highs in the upper 80's. There is a slightly drier season from late spring through summer and rain is moderate to heavy all year. Plants should not be allowed to dry out completely. I have grown and bloomed this well with 65F minimum nights. I have always grown them mounted with almost daily water. The can also be grown potted with a moisture retentive medium. Cpasule Parent: Dendrobium amboinensis '4926
