Sold out Dendrobium violaceum almost blue #5153 outcross (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Flowers of this rewarding species can appear at any time during the year and last 6 months or more. A well grown plant can be in bloom year round. It is in the oxyglossum section of Dendrobium and comes from New Guinea where it grows from 2500 ft to 6500ft elevation. It is a compact grower and one of the most warmth tolerant of the oxyglossum dendrobiums and can grow with minimum nights as high as 65F. The parents of this cross are both on the blue end of the spectrum rather than the typical pink form. Culture: This species does well either potted or mounted. I prefer a bark mix if potted and cork if mounted. It grows in the cool-intermediate to warm-intermediate range. Give it moderately bright light. It likes even moisture year round and good humidity and air movement. Like most plants from New Guinea, good water quality is essential. Dendrobium violaceum: These images are representative of this cross.
