Encyclia diurna ‘Vera Cruz’ AM/AOS #5270 selfing (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is a noted for the strong fragrance and amany flowered, branched inflorescence up to 6 ft. In spite of the tall inflorescence, it is a medium sized plant. It is found as an epiphyte up to 5400 ft elevations in thickets and rain forest in Venezuela, Colombia, Surinam and Venezuela and possibly north as far as Costa Rica. The 1" flowers are yellow green in colo and may have maroon markings on the lip. Culture: Give this species bright light and intermediate conditions. Allow to dry between waterings. Parent: I don't have a good quality image of the parent plant so show two different clones that represent the species well. |
