Sold out Eulophia streptopetala #5103.15 wild (approximately 15 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is considered an easy and rewarding member of the genus. It is a large plant with leaves up to 2.5 ft and an inforescence that is up to 7 ft. The inflorescense can have more than 100 flowers that open in succession with with each flower lasing 2-3 weeks. It is widespread in Africa and has been recorded in the Arabian Peninsula. Culture: The plants have thick roots and need a large pot to accomodate the extensive root system. A suggested mix is 1 part coarse river sand, 2 parts compost and 1 part medium bark. Plant the pseudobulb so that at least 3 quarters of its lengh is above the potting mix. Winter temperatures should be between 41 and 66F (protect from freezing). Summer temperatures should be between 59F to 95F. Once the new growth begins water generously and add fertilize. From early spring, reduce watering and stop fertilizing. Once the leaves begin to yellow and then drop, stop watering. Moisten the potting mix every 3 to 4 weeks during the dormant period.
