Sold Out Neocogniauxia hexaptera spontaneous #887 ('Vistamont' spontaneous pod) (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). This is a spontaneous pod which means that it was not pollinated intentionally. It is highly likely that it is a selfing, but there is always the chance that it was pollinated by an insect with pollen from a different species. It is interesting to note that there are no hybrids made with the species and of the numerous attempts that I am aware of, none have taken. The Species: A cloud forest plant from Haiti and the Domincan Republic. It is an epiphyte that grows in shady conditions. It occurs from 3300 to 4300 ft elevation. The bright orange flowers are about 2" wide. Culture: Grow it in cool to intermediate temperatures in moderate light and good air movement. Treat it like a pleurothallis or masdevallia. Capsule Parent: Neocogniauxia hexaptera 'Vistamont'
