Sold out Oncidium tigrinum selfing #3783 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: Found only in Mexico on the Pacific slopes of Michoacán and Jalisco at elevations from 5250 to 7550 ft where they grow in pine and oak forest. The plant reaches a height of 11 to 14” with a very short rhizome so it stays in a relatively small pot. The erect inflorescence is up to 40” long and may be branched. The 2” wide flowers are showy, long lasting and nicely fragrant. Culture: As with other plants from the Pacific coast of Mexico, this receives little rain in the winter. The nights are cool and the days moderate. In the summer, the nights are in the mid 50’s and the days are in the upper 70’s and low 80’s. Rain is heaviest from May through September. In the winter I reduce watering and just sprinkle occassionally to keep the bulbs from shriveling. I have always grown this potted in bark. Capsule parent: Oncidium tigrinum '9028' |
