Sold out Paphinia neudeckeri selfing #3866 ( ‘Extra Nice' x self) (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is a wonderful species with large flowers that is not often seen in collections these days. The flowers on this species can be over 6” but more often are in the 4.5 to 5”range. The blooming images are of this clone. I have grown and bloomed this species in intermediate conditions and now that I have it in warm conditions it is even better. It will bloom numerous times per year if well grown.Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations from 2500 to 4000 feet. The inflorescence is pendant and moves across the top of the medium and then over the side. The flowers need good humidity to bloom well. Since the spikes are pendant, it should be grown where the spikes can hang free. Culture: I grow this hanging up with mounted plants in a fine bark mix in a net pot or mounted on tree fern where it gets water almost daily. To grow it on a bench with less frequent watering I would set the net pot inside a plastic pot to increase shumidity around the roots. Water with dilute fertilizer and grow in shade to moderate light. Intermediate to warm conditions suit it best. Parent: Paphinia neudeckeri 'Extra Nice':
