Phalaenopsis lowii sibling cross #5144 ('8387' x '8392') (approximately 15 seedlings per flask). Species: This species is from Myanmar and western Thailand from moderate elevations. It is found on limestone rocks and also branches of small bushes. The 1.5 to 2” flowers are usually produced with 4 to 5 per spike but can be up to 20. The leaves are 2 to 4” long. Culture: In the habitat, rainfall is heavy from May through September and very low from November through April. They may be deciduous if the dry winter rest is severe. They can be grown potted or mounted. That said, I have been growing these well with 65F minimum nights and 80F maximum days. They grow and bloom well for me with year round watering and dilute fertilizer. Capsule parent: Phalaenopsis lowii '8387' Pollen parent: Phalaenopsis lowii '8392' |
