Phalaenopsis malipoensis sibling cross #6250.15 ('8903' x '8887') (approximately 15 seedlings per flask). Species: The species was first described in 2005 and is still uncommon in collections. It is a miniature species from southeastern Yunnan, China that grows at elevations from 2000 to 4300 ft. The flowers are white with a blush of yellow and a warm yellow lip edged with white. The inflorescence will carry up to 10 flower of the 1/2" to 3/4” flowers. Culture: I have been growing this species in both cool and intermediate conditions. I grow it in moderate light with ample water and dilute fertilizer in the growing season and a drier winter with occasional misting to keep the leaves firm. I grow it mounted, but have recently seen a nice plant grown in warm conditions in a plastic pot. Capsule parent: Phalaenopsis malipoensis '8903' Pollen parent: Phalaenopsis malipoensis '8887' |
