Sold out Rhynchostele candidula outcross #2290 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: It is a cool grower that comes from the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero, Mexico in mixed forests at elevations between 7600 and 9900 ft. In the habitat they are frequently bathed in mist and fog. It is a compact to medium sized plant that has lovely, showy flowers between 2 and 2.75" wide with 2 to 5 per inflorescence. The flowers last for several weeks. Culture: These grow in similar conditions as Laelia anceps, though in much less light. In the winter, the light is increased and the rain is infrequent. There is a large differential between the day and night in the dry winter season so there would be good amounts of dew available. The plants will benefit from early morning misting to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling. During the 6 month growing season, water the plants frequently and fertilize regularly. The roots should dry quickly, so mounting where the roots are exposed or potting in a fast draining mix are ideal. Parents: These are the two clones used for this, but I don't know which one was the pollen donor and which was the pod parent.
