Students dancing LaBayadere
La Bayadere
Ballet is a performing art, and we feel that participation in performances is an important part of our students' training. We provide two major opportunities for performance experience each year: in November we stage six performances of The Nutcracker and in the Spring, our students can participate in our Student Showcase.
Our Spring Showcase on May 2 & 3 just ended. Thank you to all who came to see us, and to our wonderful dancers!

Parts in The Nutcracker are assigned after auditions, which are held in early September. We have choreographed dances for each level of student at our school, from Pre-Ballet through Ballet VIIA, so that as many of our students as possible can perform. Rehearsals usually begin in October, and we try to hold most of them on Saturdays, although a limited number of our dancers may have rehearsals on week days. This is a wonderful opportunity for our dancers to perform for our community!

Student Showcase
Our 2015 performance dates of The Nutcracker will be held November 27, 28, and 29.

Our past 2014 performances was an exciting program which features Swan Lake Act II in the Saturday performances and choreography by our talented staff!

Showcase '13 Poster
The Student Showcase is our annual school production, in which students perform a dance foreach of their classes. It is our policy to use minimal class time for rehearsals, since we are a training school. We incorporate steps that must be learned as a part of the students' curriculum into combinations, which are then joined together to create dances for the performances. In the past we have had nearly 100 percent participation in the Student Showcase by our students in Level I classes and above. With the Pre-Ballet students, we have had about 90 percent participation, since a few of the little ones are shy and afraid to go onto the stage. We rely on parents to help make the decision whether or not their young dancer should perform, since they know the personality of their child best.  Click here for the link to buy tickets

Other Performance Opportunities

From time to time we receive a request to provide dancers to perform in local productions or with professional groups, and we honor those requests that help advance our dancers' training. In the past we have provided young dancers for the role of Party Scene children for the Moscow Classical Ballet when they performed The Nutcracker at Flint Center, and we have provided advanced dancers to perform Waltz of the Flowers and Snow Scene for Ballet Pacifica's Nutcracker in San Mateo, and most recently, for Academy en l'Air's Nutcracker in Southern California. Our dancers have also participated in Ballet Allegro's productions in Santa Rosa.

The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts

We are fortunate to be able to stage most of our productions at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. This is a new, state-of-the-art theater which seats about 650 patrons, and is equipped with the latest in lighting and audio technology. MVCPA's beautiful backstage facilities provide our dancers with a truly professional experience!
