The Orbit of Mars
Goals of the Lab
To make careful angular distances of a Mars compared to offset stars.
To observe the motion of Mars relative to the stars over a period of 2-3 months.
To analyze your data about the position of Mars to figure out the orbit of Mars around the Sun.
Requirements: 200% Blow-Up of star map SC-001 (print this out!), Mapping the Motion of a Planet in the Sky and all requirements therein. (Print that out too!)
To complete this lab: follow the steps in Mapping the Motion of a Planet in the Sky for Mars, using the 200% blowup of SC-001 provided above.
