Deborah Oropallo "Red", 2007 Digital pigment print and acrylic on canvas 76 x 60 inches edition of 3 $20,000This work on canvas (if it is created on a printer, is it a painting?) begins as a woman's image drawn from the Internet and modified using a "painting" program. The software allows her to smear the information around preserving some of the source material and removing the balance. Her manipulation also creates the look of brushstrokes or other painterly styles. The final image is then printed onto canvas using pigments, not ink, and is given a final coating with clear acrylic.
