DAD'S LOVE FOR HIS SON
My precious son
Always asks me why I am so good to him
After I buy him a gift for a good grade in a test.
I always tell him
"You're a great kid,
Trying your best.
Besides, how many sons do I have?
Who else am I going to treat to a toy.
Who else am I going to spoil?".
Then I push him away to pursue a new toil.
There are too many things to do today
For me to spend time with him and play.
Day by day
I waste away.
Never enough time
For the one who needs me the most.
I can't say that I won't deserve it--
Turn around being fair play.
That when I grow old and need him
He'll respond just as I taught him,
"There are too many things to do today
For me to spend time with you and play.".
I want to say now:
"I love you dear boy.
Sometimes I'm weary
Can't get myself out of a new worry
But I promise you that as soon as the current problem is resolved
You and I will play.
We'll do whatever you want--
After all, how many sons do I have?
Who else am I going to spoil? ".

Bob Connors's Questions:
My questions regarding this:
1 is it too sentimental?
2 how is the rhyme scheme, too free verse?
3 is it any good?
