Before January 24th
Where else can teens go if they are not old enough for San Francisco clubs or
don’t want the unfriendliness of The City? That was what I first thought
before any of this begun. This frustration of seeing bored teens and being one
myself gradually turned into extreme creativity and I would day dream of a
club where all the music was something off of WYLD 94.9 and the people there
would be friendly and wanting only to dance. This was my dream, a sweet
fantasy that you know is impossible but is all you can think about. At the
same time this was happening, I coincidentally ended up meeting with two well
known DJs. We talked, and at the end of a couple of months decided to sign a
contract. It was at this point in my life when I felt like I was riding on a
cloud. The name of the club, ESCAPE, pertains to a philosophy that I have
created. The club is designed to give people an escape from the stresses of
school and life itself. It is a place to let loose and forget.
After January 24th
Two things happened after ESCAPE 1; first, most of the inexperienced staff
learned quite a bit and second, after seeing that 300 fliers brought in 120
people we upped our advertising campaign 300%. With the word starting to
spread ESCAPE 2 will run much smoother.
Remarks on March 7th
Of the 180 people that danced their ass off at ESCAPE 2 everyone of them has
told either myself, my staff, or WAXWORX what an awesome night it was. From
here on out it’s only getting bigger! Thank you to all who came and partied
all night!
Props
To everyone who has helped me in any way, shape, or form I give you my
absolute thanks! To Nick Ulrich and Ronn Moore for being true friends and
always having faith in ESCAPE's ability to blow the top off Santa Rosa. To
Shatter for designing the flyer, website, and for his never ending advice. To
Melissa, Sara, and Rachel for your non-stop support and beautiful smiles. To
Clay Daulton for your Dragonball Z influence. Special thanks to Quest and
Groove at WAX WORKS.
