Debate over the choice of plant site at Bodega Bay increased throughout 1959, and continued over the next several years, until PG&E decided in 1964 to drop the project. (The Press Democrat) 10/25/2020: On October 30, 1964, after several years of controversy, the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. announced they were withdrawing their application to build a nuclear power plant at Bodega Head. The famous "Hole in the Head" excavation at the proposed power plant site is now part of California's state parks system.
