the artist
Background Tim Tonooka was born in 1957 and
grew up in the Philadelphia area. His teenage dream was to
be a custom bike painter, which he did professionally from
1975-79, starting at the age of 17. After moving to
California, he explored T-shirt airbrushing from 1989-92.
Lately his efforts are focused on canvas paintings. Highly
influenced by the psychedelic art of the 1960s and the
custom cycle painting styles of the 70s, his current styling
favors the dramatic use of color for heightened mood and
emotion.
