Reading the Papers
c. 1956. Photographer: Paul. 2-1/4 square Kodak negative.

This is the kind of activity Father was looking forward to when Will interupted him with that snapshot. Every single evening, starting before dinner and continuing after, he'd sit down and read the papers, apparently in their entirety. One local (The Independent-Journal) and one City evening paper (The San Francisco News, later the News-Call-Bulletin). There might be interruptions for watching TV, but those papers would get read.

That three-humped thing toward the left is the tunnel for the electric train set. Below it, the waste-paper basket, now resident in my living room.
