"Me et Pipe"
That's the title Will wrote on the slide mount.
Thanksgiving 1956. Photographer unknown. 35mm Kodachrome .

This shot is jam-packed with illuminating detail. The now-defunct paper Will is reading headlines a significant historical event. The Pennas are obviously staging a big holiday dinner; a kitchen chair is in the living room to use at an auxillary dining table. Will is leaning on the long-gone but fondly-remembered cocktail table with the damage under the glass from someone having spilled something. Up on the TV is Paul's coin collection, which he's been showing off to people. The pink metal tumbler at the lower left was every-day table equipment. I think cottage cheese came in them. Behind Will on the window seat are Mother's African violets in their periodic still-living state. I am currently in posession of the redwood-log wishing well and the little seashell turtle next to it. Yes, the Pennas rarely throw anything away.
