The course gives you a chance to experience working with an actual client. Sometimes life turns on a dime, and this course lets you begin to learn how to handle the curves in the context of team-based web production. Taking the Business of Web Design class was an invaluable experience. I would recommend it and its sister-course Web Content Practicum to anyone wanting to get into this business.
This course provides an opportunity to work within a group of diverse people toward a common goal. It seems to be a good preparation for the ³real world² of web development.

By enrolling in CIS 58.54 I was able to improve my group interpersonal skills, and refresh all the HTML skills I had forgotten. Gives great experience and looks good on a resume. Gives a good idea of what working for a client is like.
Most useful class I took. Granted, all the other classes that came before-hand were necessary, but none provided a sense of satisfaction as this one did. I feel so prepared to tackle the business of web design/production, now. Thank you so much for this class.
The course put me in a position that would be similar to one I would be in the working world. I thought it gave me invaluable experience in dealing with real world problems involved with creating a web page. Another strength of the course is serving the community in helping non-profit organizations provide information to the community.
The strength of this class include: doing a real site, working with real clients, taking a project through beginning to end, having direction on how to proceed through necessary steps and why, getting feedback and help from fellow classmates. I hope we can remain on a mailing list with the same group of people. The unrelenting love of the teacher for her students.
Taught many lessons about the "Business" of web design through practical training. Lectures or book reading could not have taught the importance of teamwork and interaction that was taught in this course. I recommend the course to any serious web designer.
strengths: The fact that it took everything we have learned so far and put it in order and use. I had made sites here and there but this class gave it a whole new perspective, a guide for planing and delivering in a real time line real organized, know you know what to do manner. I felt that I got a great deal out of this class. It has been a great learning and applying experience.

Provided total immersion in the web site development process. Emphasized planning; the Burdman text (Collaborative Web Development) was beyond excellent; the on-line lessons and countless links to useful information about planning and the business end of web development were extremely useful. Lively teaching style made every subject interesting. The class was so beneficial and fun that I would like to retake it several times.
This was an invaluable experience. It added a hands-on level to the academic studies needed to create Web sites.

The course gave us a real-world scenario (aside from the $$) to develop a wide array of skills necessary for web development. The course taught the importance of team relationship, planning, contracting, client relationship, and tested our capabilities in the real-world scenario. The course, for me, was a benchmark in my new career as a web designer. This was one of the best classes I've ever taken. My confidence level has surely increased by taking the class.
Serious hands-on experience of creating a web site in a team setting. Serious meaning, "it's for real"! Opportunities about in gaining team skills, applying everything one has learned to this point in a constructive manner. It's a very good indicator of whether or not one is "ready or not" for going into this field.
I felt that this class really showed us how to work with a team and with a client. I learned a lot about how people can pull together and get a project finished. I never realized how many times a client would change their minds.
