ADVENTURE VELO ORDERING INFORMATION

All orders must be accompanied by a signed copy of our WAIVER form as well. NO ORDER WILL BE PROCESSED WITHOUT THIS FORM.

ABOUT ORDERING

We have investigated the possibility of on-line credit card payment, but for a variety of reasons, we have decided to do things the old-fashioned way: you print and fill out the forms and mail them to us (with your check), and we send you your tour packet. At least this latter half of the transaction is new-fashioned: we e-ship your tour guide packet to you as a pdf.

Sending in a check may seem time-consuming, but bear in mind that time should not be an issue when ordering these tour packets. Tours should be planned months in advance to allow time to lock in reservations at the overnights. Trying to do this in a last-minute rush is a bad idea, and we discourage it. And bear in mind too that the more-or-less instantaneous e-mail shipping of your tour packet makes up for time lost in shipping us the hard copy (your check and order form).

LEGAL STUFF

Adventure Velo tour packets are intended for the private, non-commercial use of the individual purchaser. Seeing as how we are sending you a pdf of your chosen tour(s), it is obvious that you can copy or forward this to your friends and touring companions. We don’t care if you do this and we can’t really stop you, even if we did care. Our primary goal is for you to have a good tour, and having the information out there is the best way for that to happen.

However, we would be exceedingly irritated to discover that someone was reproducing our tours for their own profit, and we would do all the appropriate things to discourage this.

ABOUT LIABILITY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

When you sign our WAIVER form, you’re supposed to read all that fine print. We know most of you won’t do so–who ever does?–so we just want to touch on the subject briefly.

We all know that cycling carries with it some inherent risk...that accidents and injuries (even mortal ones) do sometimes occur on cycle tours.

First of all, we hope all your tours are pleasant and safe. Second of all, we hope you understand the notion of taking responsibility for your own actions. If we say–in the description of a ride–that it contains a fun, high-speed descent, this does not mean you can attack that downhill at something beyond your own abilities...and then blame us when you crash.

Furthermore, we can only advise you about the routes based on the conditions when we last saw them, or had reliable reports about them. What was a smooth stretch of road last year may have been washed out over the winter. Or, on any given day, you may run into a dose of Murphy’s Law, wherein two trucks try to pass you and each other at the same time on a narrow road...a road that we described as “lightly traveled.” The same thing applies to the overnight arrangements: if, for example, you slip and fall on a wet step in the bathroom at a campground we have recommended. These constantly changing local conditions are beyond our control.

We have worked hard to make these tours as safe and as enjoyable as they can be, but we can only do so much. Ultimately, the only person who can make them safe and enjoyable is YOU. In a nutshell, that’s what all the legal boilerplate in the waiver is about.
