The Sonoma County Knitting Guild, in existence in one form or another for about 20 years, disbanded in late 2009 due to lack of volunteers willing to put in the work needed to keep SCKG a viable organization. To continue to provide information to knitters and crocheters about knitting & crocheting resources and gatherings in the county, the last of the board members opted to keep the website going, both to keep the information available on it present on the Web, and in hopes that others will eventually step up and take on the mantle of the organization and make it come alive and grow once again. The links to the left and below the content on every page will take you to the following: Community Knitting: information on the monthly Community Knitting Sunday and a variety of websites representing some of the community projects for which SoCo knitters and crocheters are making items. Local Yarn Stores (LYS): A list of the yarn stores in our county. While many knitters and crocheters are buying their materials online, we urge everyone to shop local once in a while, to keep these stores--and the knitters and crocheters they support--present and thriving in our communities. Local Resources: Fiber-related resources that may be of interest Online Resources: Pattern collections, e-zines, and other destinations of interest to knitters and crocheters. Tips & Techniques: Some handy online instructions and tutorials on a variety of subjects, from casting on, binding off, grafting toes, and more. |
