The bases are beautifully machined from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum billets and 01 tool steel and incorporate the same features found in a full size plunge router.
They are finished in Bishop's signature red anodization and include a depth stop, a vertical adjustment knob, and plunge lock. Futher, the bases are designed so they are easily adapted to custom jigs and set-ups.

Available in two configurations:
1. The standard rectangular model which comes complete with a fence/circle cutter attachment, The removable fence is precisely adjustable with screw thread and lever locks and can be used as an edge guide or circle cutter. Luthiers will appreciate the ease that rosette channels and sound holes can be cut using the fence in the circle-cutting mode. A ¼” pin is included with the fence to act as a pivot point, and the screw thread diameter adjustment is easy and very precise. Used with the depth stop rosette channels of the exact diameter and depth are quickly and accurately cut.
2. The round template base model accommodates standard 1-¼ inch template guides, and is designed to be used just like a full-sized router with template guides, which are very useful for following templates on complex shapes. This model is supplied with a two part inlay template kit which cuts matching male and female components. Included with the inlay kit is an excellent 1/8” solid carbide downcut spiral bit.
Either of the two models are available to fit the Dremel™ Model 395 tool, the Foredom flex shaft tool (#30 and #44 and #44T handpieces). Both models come complete with instructions and warranty.

Accessories:
The round template base conversion kit is available separately for those who already have the standard rectangular base. This kit consists of the round base, complete with posts, inlay kit and bit. The motor carriage of the standard model is easily interchangeable with the two models, just remove it from one and place it on the other.
Spring Kit
A spring kit is available for those who need a spring loaded function in their work with the base. This kit has been particularly popular with inlay artists, as it allows the rapid removal of the bit from the work for cleanout before continuing the inlay process. The kit is complete with two special springs and two anodized knobs (vertical adjust and locking).

Laminate Trimmer Plunge Base :
We are proud to announce the availability of our new laminate trimmer plunge base for the Porter-Cable 310 laminate trimmer.* We have received many requests for this base, and after several prototypes and consultation with professional woodworkers, we have finalized the design. Together, the base and the 310 motor are a rock solid combination of quality, power, and compactness. You will be delighted with the smoothness and accuracy of cut as well as the ease with which it performs its various functions.
The plunge base debuted at the National Association of Music Manufacturers convention in late January. A small pre-production run sold out immediately to a number of world renowned luthiers. Interest has been very strong with all types of woodworkers.
This new model is very compact. The base plate measures 4.5" x 4". Construction and features are similar to the standard model: machined, anodized 6061 Aluminum and 0-1 tool steel, no castings whatsoever. In addition to a screw thread adjustable fence/circle cutter, the base comes complete with plunge springs and two sub-base plates, one of which will accommodate standard Porter-Cable template guides. A tower knob for height adjustment, a depth stop and a lever lock are also featured. A ball bearing edge guide will be available shortly as an accessory. Other accessories are planned.
