Left, builder, Barry Grzebik, wipes an acetone soaked rag over Indian rosewood onto curly maple binding. This tints it to complement the rosewood back and side shades, and helps to highlight its curl.
In recent years most Indian Rosewood sources have been cutting their backs and sides from different trees: the sides from the smaller trees and the backs from the larger trees. This has made it very difficult to get good color matches. As an experiment we decided to pay nearly double what we had been paying to have our source cut backs and sides from the same trees. Not only did we receive beautifully matched sets, but these are also the nicest, darkest rich purple sets that we've seen in years! And they look even better in person!
