History

Since the purchase of the original property in 1946 Alliance Redwoods Conference Center (ARCG) we have been providing families, churches, and schools with outstanding hospitality, exciting recreational camp activities and accommodation suited to a variety of tastes and budgets.

A group of district pastors from northern California purchased 76 acres of land with the intent of establishing a campground and conference center. The Tabernacle and Dining Hall were among some of the first buildings constructed. During the first few years of camp, maintaining the campgrounds was done on a volunteer basis. In the next few years to follow, more lodgings and cabins were created to accommodate the growing number of guests.

In the early 1960s, the newly formed Central Pacific District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance became the owner of ARCG. More acres of land were purchased—including the acres across the street for the future construction of Big Rock Lodge. In the years to follow, numerous additions and upgrades were made to the lodgings and cabins to accommodate the needs of guests.

The Alliance Redwoods Outdoor Education Program was established in May of 1982. In the last 30 years, students from northern California come to ARCG during the school year to attend science camp and participate in challenge course activities.

In recent years, ARCG has experienced growth through the number of guests each year that use our conference grounds, and through ways we are able to serve our community on a local and international level. Camp South Africa (CSA) was established in 2002 to be “a place of healing and hope for the children of the lost generation of South Africa”. Since then CSA has served over 20,000 children offering them hope in Christ, providing meals, recreation activities, music and dancing.

In 2009, ARCG began a major reinvestment in the infrastructure, overall appearance and functionality of the camp for the next generation. The outcome of the reinvestment in the property has been extremely well received and has given ARCG incredible favor with those who enjoy using the property. Sonoma Canopy Tours was also established during that time as a recreational activity for guests. The zip line course has been well received by the community we live in, providing a fun experience for people of all ages.

As our ministry at ARCG continues to grow, we hope ARCG will continue to be, “A place of renewal where our guests meet the Creator in His Creation”.
