This is a mostly random drawing, of a bit of an odd couple. I think it started because I wanted to draw a tophat. (Tophats are cool. I have decided this.)
And this came about from wanting to draw one of my characters all gothpunk. It was made more fun by the fact that the character in question isn't human. Heh. I did enjoy drawing this. It isn't finished, though; the details get more vague towards the bottom of the page. The top half's fun, though. Even despite the scanner's attempted sabbotage (the sketch at the left and the boots at the bottom were supposed to be plain old pencil-lead gray, not green or pinkish.)
When I gave up on the previous picture, I moved on to this one. It's less formal, or something like that; I could draw it without fretting over perfection. Oddly enough, this one is arguably closer to perfection than the last. Anyway, it's fun. And that is Rarr under there. It's hard to tell without color, isn't it?
"Art therapy, woo!" I felt like doing a bit of artistic venting about a few sour points of my college experience thus far. The result was a sketchy, metaphorical comic in two parts (since I came back to it later, after everything had improved).
A webartist by the name of Felix often does fanart by drawing one of his characters, Nitrine, obsessed in some fashion with the honored person. A few people have returned the favor. I decided to join the fun; I have the perfect character for it.
Once upon a time I was fiddling around with learning how to color in Photoshop. I didn't get very far, because I had to use the school computers when there was nothing to do in class. This pic isn't half bad though; it's the colored version of an old line drawing.
There is so flippin' much you can do with Photoshop, it positively boggles the mind sometimes. One of these days I have to resume fiddling with it, just to see all the odd stuff I'll end up with.
As you can guess from the writing in the pic, this is a birthday present for a friend, in which a group of his characters work on a tribute song. Heh, they've got a ways to go.
I decided to start doing fanart for the people whose websites I visit on a fanatical basis. It'll be a while before I get close to finishing; there are a lot of cool people out there. This pic is of the scene where Lassic the werewolf meets Carlitos the pug, in Unholy War, one of the latest stories at the Hollywood Vampires page. It's getting published! How cool is that? In case you don't know, I'll tell you: that's very cool. Very.
This is a fanart comic strip featuring Zanya from Bite Me, and a certain hapless mortal. Heh. This was fun.
And now a tribute to one of my other favorite net comics, Natura Morta. There are some great characters in that comic. They're fun to draw too; I really need to try drawing them in color.
Anybody who does two different comic strips, both of which are funny, definitely deserves some fanart. So I did a crossover strip, featuring characters from both Under The Lemon Tree and Nip and Tuck, hypothesizing on how they would take to each other. I think that'd be pretty interesting to see. [Oh, and now the guy does three comic strips. Ye gods.]
And now some fanart for myself, or something like that. This is the first time I've drawn Kohn, the schizophrenic human in the story I'm currently writing. In this pic he's entertaining Rarr by doing an unflattering impression of some unspecified pompous guy.
I don't know if this is Rarr, or some abstract representation of him. The eyes are certainly interesting like that. Who knows, maybe I'll end up writing it into the story somehow. That'd be a happy accident; this was originally just a sketchy thing to practice using pens on, but I chickened out because I like it this way.
Whee, face-drawing practice. Some of them looked like they belonged with certain names, which I wrote down in teeny-weensy print that the scanner couldn't pick up. The names are Jean, Ulf, Nicoli [Adair's brother], "Dust", Steeve, Jamie Thomas ____ [Nicoli & Adair's little brother], Tallok, and Erin. I've drawn Tallok before, with someone I named Adair. Now, as of this page, Adair has two brothers. I haven't formally decided on what kind of ears the family has; maybe they change around some. |
