About Me

Blabber jabber la.

About me. Okay, where to begin. Um. I guess a physical description's a good enough starting point. I'm tall (six feet exactly, I think) and thin. I have brown eyes and brown hair (currently waist-length). All in all, I don't stand out too much in a crowd (unless I'm wearing my elf ears or vampire fangs [very realistic; Halloween and the Renaissance Faire were lots of fun]). In case you're curious (and I know you are), here's my spring photo from senior year. No, I didn't mess with it on the computer. That's really what it looks like. >:) Like I said, very realistic.

At the time of this writing I'm twenty-one, and halfway through college. This website is a good example of the things I like, so I don't have to describe that in too much detail. My main hobbies are writing and drawing, and I also spend a lot of time reading and using the Internet.

I played volleyball all throughout high school and middle school, though I decided not to try out for college level (I have considered intramural games, which look like the right fun level). My current sport, if you want to classify it that way, is karate. Much fun. I started two years ago, and I'm now a green-white belt (for those of you not familiar with the ranking system, that's early intermediate). I'm enjoying it quite a lot. I like active stuff of all sorts; hiking and climbing are favorites of mine.
I'm fond of all kinds of music, and I really do mean all kinds. I listen to new stuff, oldies, obscure singers and bands no one else has ever heard of ... bits of everything. There's something I like in every category I can think of offhand, though there's definitely more in some than in others. I don't like much country and hardly any rap, for example. But I pretty much like some of everything.

It occurs to me that I should mention my non-human self. Years ago, I was looking at furry art on the Internet, which inspired me to draw. I wanted to come up with a unique species for the picture: not a cat or a fox or anything else common. After a while I settled on a frilled lizard. So I drew the picture, and spontaneously named the resulting character "Marlynn," which is an alteration of my human first and middle names: Mara Lynn. From then on, the frilled lizard morph has represented me when I drew furries. (If you want to see the difference between that first drawing and more recent pix, go see the "Avatar Evolution" page.)
You'll notice that in the art section, sometimes I have wings. That's my gargoyle incarnation; I'm a shapeshifter. I realize that there isn't much of a difference between gargoyle and frilled lizard morph, but that's just the way it turned out. I can shapeshift into plenty of other forms; these two are just my favorites. I do magic too, a few different kinds. I've been meaning to put myself in a story, but so far that's only happened in the collaboration story I'm writing with my friend Jax Runner. (A story which may even be finished some day, though it's not looking too likely at this point.)

So. Now I don't know what else to write, so I guess that's it. If you think of anything I missed, feel free to email me and say so.
