Friday, November 9th, 2001 ... 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. ... KZSU, 90.1 FM

Didn't realize this until yesterday, but a really cool band called Birth is going to be in town Sunday night. They're a trio from Ohio, doing wild composed jazz with lots of noisy improv/soloing thrown in, and some bold, fun use of heavy electronics here and there. I was very impressed with their self-released album last year, and I'm hoping to pick up my own copy at their show! (It's tough to find, even though it got reviews in some surprisingly mainstream magazines.)

They'll be playing late Nov. 11 at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco.

Next week: Sax improviser Jack Wright stops by for some live performance! He's in town to do a fundraiser for next year's SF Alt Music Festival ... check details here.
