Friday, July 5th, 2002 ... 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ... KZSU, 90.1 FM

Got news during the show that Ted Williams, the Splendid Splinter, died today. No real jazz connection there, just a sad bit of news.

Played Jim Black and Birth back-to-back; both are adding great new dimensions to jazz. Black is taking it in a bit of a post-rock direction, while Birth is adding fast and vicious, almost punk-influenced beats and an overall great attitude. These are two of my favorite CDs in rotation right now.
