Taking a late-night substitute shift on a whim. Tried sticking to "late-night" music: eerie stuff, sound explorations, etc. The whole thing came out more "nice" than "creepy," unfortunately... and I ended up getting noisy anyway when I couldn't resist the urge to play Miranda July and Moe!.
I'd planned all along to close the show with Scott Fields' new hour-long piece, figuring I might not get space during my regualr show to play all of it.

Amazing solo flute. On this track he snaps out beatbox-like beats
(comprised of quick flute bursts, of course) with some grunts and other
vocalizations. Fun stuff.
* The Raleigh Ringers -- "Nova" -- More (self-released, 2004)
A handbell choir performing an accessible modern-classical piece.
They also do more traditional classical pieces and (egad) rock covers.
Monologue about a sex worker having a dream about being swept off to
Reno. If you haven't heard Miranda's stuff before, it's sometimes funny
and often a bit disturbing -- great late-night radio fare.
? Moe! Staiano -- "Al Capone Died of Syphilis" -- The Lateness of Yearly Presentations (Dephine Knormal, 2003)
A single 59-minute piece combining jazz improv, minimialist classical ideas, and Eastern traditional motifs. Slow and thoughtful stuff.
