Scotland

Eric concentrates on reading a sign at Edinburgh Castle.  There's a lot of great stuff to see here, though it doesn't have the same magic that the old Welsh castles have.  I think the presence of modern buildings, and an active garrison is the problem.  The guy doing the mideval weapon demonstration in the great hall was a riot.  Programs intended for local school children are highly recommended.

Loch Lammond was absolutely gorgeous.  In the face of such beauty, Eric had no choice but to start skipping stones.
Loch Lammond just demanded more pictures.  Especially in the light of the amazing weather we had for the trip.

Standing stones and sheep near the Argyll coast in Scotland.  I still can't figure out who decided that historic sites would make a good place for livestock.

Wildflowers near the standing stones in Scotland.  May is a great time to visit Britain if you like flowers.

Ok, so it's not Stonehenge, but this stone circle is pretty neat, if for no reason beyond the fact that you can walk freely around it.  Supposedly there's dead bodies buried under the stones.

Back in Edinburgh, there's a mountain right in the middle of town called Arthur's Seat.  The water in the distance is the Forth of Firth.

This a shot of the Scottish Royal Botanical Gardens.  The swans were nesting in this little pond, and the proud father in the center of the picture drew quite a crowd.
