Energy and the Cost of Lighting
Lighting represents 30 to 50 percent of operating cost in a typical installation. Electricity alone represents 86 percent of those cost, on average, with 11 percent going to maintenance and only 3 percent actually being spent on lighting hardware. Obviously, selection the most energy efficient lighting system is the key to getting the best possible return on your lighting investment.
Initial Investment
ENERGY PLUS+ understands the basics in the equations of lighting economics. Long-term operating costs are the most important cost factor, not the initial investment in lamps, ballasts or other hardware. In both retrofits and new installations, it is the overall reductions in energy cost which pay back the initial investment and provide substantial long-term returns.
Innovative Products
OSRAM SYLVANIA's unique approach to developing ballasts and lamps has created some of the most innovative products in the market today.
Energy Plus+
With over 3000 SYLVANIA and OSRAM branded lighting products to choose from, even the most experienced lighting professionals can feel a little overwhelmed. ENERGY PLUS+ can help you by recommending applications to help put things into perspective.
For the Best Energy Efficiency
SYLVANIA offers both PAR38 and PAR30 lamps with the latest energy-conserving infrared technology. These CAPSYLITE IR lamps produce more light with fewer watts than conventional halogen lamps. In fact, a CAPSYLITE IR PAR lamp of just 50W or 60W can often be used instead of a standard 75W or even 90W PAR lamps.
Since CAPSYLITE IR lamps produce less heat than PAR lamps of higher wattages, they can reduce the demand on air conditioning systems. Finally the availability of the state-of-the-art SYLVANIA SPL optics system on 50 and 60W versions makes CAPSYLITE IR lamps the best choice for any application requiring crisp, white light and maximum energy savings. |

The Line Voltage Alternative
Since CAPSYLITE DESIGNER 16 halogen PAR lamps can be installed in any standard fixture, they offer a cost effective alternative to low voltage halogen lighting, with no need for special wiring or expensive transformers.
The aluminized reflector of the DESIGNER 16 lamp is enclosed in a white ceramic casing which preserves its clean, attractive appearance even when the lamp is installed in bare sockets.
CAPSYLITE DESIGNER 16 lamps are ideal for highlighting jewelry, glassware and other fine merchandise. |

More CAPSYLITE PAR38 Options
Versatile CAPSYLITE PAR38 lamps can be used for virtually any purpose, indoors or out. They are ideal for accent lighting, merchandise displays and general illumination in homes, retail outlets, offices, lobbies and public buildings.
Since it is important to be able to select a lamp that matches the specific requirements of a given application, SYLVANIA offers 44 different PAR38 configurations with six different wattages — 45W, 60W, 75W, 90W, 120W and 250W and five different beam spreads.
SYLVANIA CAPSYLITE PAR38 lamps also offer superior performance, with an average rated service life of up to 4500 hours. |

The Long and the Short of PAR30
With a maximum overall length of just 3 5/8 inches, the standard CAPSYLITE PAR30 lamp is designed for use in shallow recessed, track and downlight fixtures. And it is the only PAR30 lamp to feature high performance SPL optics that ensure high center beam candlepower and a smooth, even beam.
"Long neck" CAPSYLITE PAR30LN lamps also feature SPL optics and are ideal for any fixture designed to accommodate an old-fashioned BR30 incandescent reflector lamp, such as standard household recessed ceiling cans.
Relamping with brighter, whiter and more efficient CAPSYLITE lamps is an obvious choice. |

The TRU-AIM Brilliant Solutin
SYLVANIA TRU-AIM BRILLIANT MR16 lamps have an aluminized rellector that does not deteriorate over time. TRU-AIM BRILLIANT MR-16 lamps therefore feature highly stable color and crisp, white light output throughout their service life.
Unlike dichroic reflectors which are designed to allow much of the heat generated by the lamp to pass backward, the TRU-AIM BRILLIANT aluminized reflector directs most of the lamp's heat forward. This can help reduce premature socket and transformer failure and makes these lamps ideal for recessed fixtures and track lights with integral transformers. And because the reflector is completely opaque, there is no backlight or rainbow effect when mounted in gimbal ring fixtures. |

Better Ballasts Means Better Lighting
SYLVANIA Professional Series QUICKTRONIC ballasts offer several added features that make them ideal for more demanding applications. They have a power facture of greater than 99 percent, which means that they operate at near perfect power utilization. And because excessive harmonic distortion can cause power transmission losses or other adverse effects to an electrical system, Professional Series QUICKTRONIC ballasts have a total harmonic distortion of less than 10 percent. These high performance ballast also feature a push-in connector option.
By presenting a variety of performance option, Professional Series QUICKTRONIC ballasts allow systems to be precisely configured to meet an installation's specific needs. There three different lamp-starting alternatives - instant start, rapid start and programmed rapid start - all with normal system output. There are also low and high system output rapid start ballasts for greater flexibility in system design. |
