  • Have clear learning objectives
  • Set learner expectations realistically
  • Help learners understand the context
  • Provide as many opportunities and methods of learning as possible
  • Use the tools to teach the tools (Web pages, listservs, e-mail, MUSE, etc.)
  • Emphasize information literacy skills
  • Provide self-guided learning opportunities (Signs, handouts, guided exercises, tapes, web pages, etc. ...) for mechanical skills
