"There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway."  Cornelius received a vision and was sent to Peter, who had been prepared to teach Cornelius, a Gentile, the Gospel in a vision Peter had in which he learned that "God is no respecter of persons:  But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."   (Acts 10:1-35)

After Paul returned to Jerusalem when his 3rd mission was completed, he was arrested and sent to Caesarea where he remained a prisoner for two years.  (Act 21-26)
